Chalkboard Birthday Collage

One of the techniques I learned in the Studio Calico Inked! class this week was chalkboard stamping.  I thought it would be the perfect thing to use for my brother-in-law's birthday card.  I've also been learning a lot of watercolor techniques in Summer Card Camp 2, so I used a little bit of that too, for my background.  I used a watercolor pen with a refill of Papertrey Ink Hawaiian Shores Ink for the watercoloring.

To make my chalkboard accent, I arranged a bunch of different My Creative Time Stamps on some black Papertrey Ink cardstock.  Before stamping, I used my ekSuccess powder tool, which served two purposes: keeping the embossing powder from sticking where I didn't want it and giving the paper a chalky look!  I stamped a couple of images at a time with Versmark ink and heat embossed them in white embossing powder.  Once I finished them all, I used Papertrey Ink Fresh Snow ink and stamped each image again, slightly offset.  I also inked around the edge of the paper.  I think it's a fun technique that allowed me to use lots of my favorite stamps!

I love this, Katie! I think both the watercolor technique and the chalkboard technique would make great video tutorials. (hint)

Thanks for sharing!
