It's the May Blog Hop Challenge with Papertrey Ink, and the challenge is to choose a floral set to work with in one of the sets of colors they have put together for us. I chose to work with the "Bouquet Builder" color scheme that includes Summer Sunrise, Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst, Orange Zest, and Ripe Avocado. I also used the new PTI Ruby Rose stamps and dies!
I thought it would be fun to try a new technique on this card: just using part of a die. My neighbor gave me a store bought thank you note in this style, and I figured out how to make something similar. First, I cut my card base at 5 1/4" x 7". I wanted my final card to be an A2 size, so I left off 1/4" of the width so that I could have the leaves hanging off the edge. Since I wanted the flower to stick up off of the top of the page, I put the Ruby Rose die on my card base so that the top of it would reach 4 1/4", the height of my card (the card base is turned sideways on the Scor-pal. I then scored it at 3 1/2", skipping the part where the die was.
A little blue tape held my die in place, and then I set up my Vagabonds in the usual way for die cutting, but I only put the top plate on top of the part of the die I wanted cut. I used my score line to help me line it up.
The result was half of a die cut! The Vagabond plate left a little line through my flower shape, but that became unnoticeable once I stamped on it.
This pretty sentiment is from Ruby Rose.
I added lots of flowers and leaves. Some are stamped directly onto the card base, and others are die cut and adhered. This is a really fun floral set to play with!
