Birthday Candles!

Merry Christmas Eve!  I'm ready to move on from Christmas crafting, so I thought I'd share the birthday card that I made for one of my sweet crafty friends!  Because I knew I was going to mail it in a bubble envelope, I didn't have to worry about it being a standard size.  Instead, I just cut it the right size for my elements, which ended up being 4 1/4" x 4 3/4"

The birthday candles are cut at 2" from the Cricut Wrap It Up cartridge.  To make the frame for them, I die cut kraft cardstock with the My Creative Time Stitched XL Label Die and then stamped it with kraft ink and a background stamp from MCT's Script Type Backgrounds.  I used my sewing machine to add some wavy lines to it and then mounted it on the aqua layer cut with the XL Label Die.

I wrapped some kraft ribbon around the cream layer before adhering it to the card base and tied a pretty button to it with Kraft Thick Hemp Twine from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique.

The fun sentiment is from MCT's Wow!  So Many Candles stamp set.

I like how simple but beautiful this card design looks. Your choice of prints for the candles makes the card pop. Beautiful job! I really hope 2013 is my year to get better at making cards. I know what I like when I see it but not coming up with it myself. Happy New Year!
