Graduation Card

Unbelievably, a girl that I taught in third and fourth grades has been student teaching at my school this year!  Yes, that makes me feel old!  Anyway, she just graduated with her masters, so I made this card for her.  It was hard to get a good picture of it.  For my background I used clear embossing powder to stamp a graduation cap from My Creative Time's Follow Your Dream stamp set all over the white cardstock.

I made my focal point by using the MCT XL Label Die to cut my dark green frame and the Stitched XL Label Die to cut my white layer.  On that I stamped the diploma and "Class of 2013" with stamps from Follow Your Dream.  The graduation cap was die cut with a die from MCT's Here's Lookin' at You.

This sentiment is also from Follow Your Dream, stamped in dark green, one of her school colors.

Picture Birthday Card

It's my little brother's birthday today, and I had fun making this card for him.  All of the patterned papers are from Simple Stories Urban Traveler. I used the frame die from My Creative Time's Frame & Arrow Dies, cutting a cardstock layer and a patterned paper layer for each picture, just to add some dimension.  The picture on the left is my brother on his 3rd birthday, the one on the right is with his first son when he was a newborn 7 years ago, and the one in the center is from just a few weeks ago, with his 3-year-old son.  It's fun to see how much his 3-year-old looks like he did at that age!

I thought this sentiment from MCT's Wow! So Many Candles stamp set went perfectly with my pictures.  I added a cute arrow cut with the arrow die from Stitched Mini Frame & Arrow Dies.

Happy For You!

One of the long-term subs at my school just got a permanent position for next year, and I just had to make her a card!  I had this idea to have the word "happy" spelled out on a brick wall, with some balloons taking away the "h".  I found the perfect background paper in the Echo Park Scoot 6x6 pack!

To make my wall, I embossed a piece of gray cardstock with the Cuttlebug Bricks embossing folder.  To make my letters super thick, I cut three layers in white and then one with the red polka dot paper, using My Creative Time's Lowercase Fun Dies.  The "For You" is part of a sentiment from MCT's Gift Card Sentiments stamp set, stamped on a portion of a die cut made with MCT's Vintage Stitched Label Dies.

I cut three balloons using an ornament die from MCT's Warm Holiday Fun and tied them to the "h" with some Thin Hemp from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique.  So fun!

Watermelon Thank You

A sweet little girl in my class brought me a different kind of fruit every day last week for Teacher Appreciation Week!  I loved it! On Friday she brought me a whole watermelon, so I just had to include a "slice" on her thank you card.

For my background, I embossed hexagons using my Papertrey Ink Hexagon Cover Plate.  These cover plates are really fun because you can use them to die cut or emboss.  Since I chose to emboss it this time, I just stamped on some of the hexagon designs from the coordinating Happy Hexagons stamp set.

This cute slice of watermelon was cut at 5" with the Cricut Just Because Cards cartridge.  See that strip of green chevrons running behind it?  I cut that from a piece of patterned paper in Echo Park's A Perfect Summer 6 x 6 paper pad.  You can pick up that cute pack at Liz's Paper Loft Boutique.

For my sentiment, I die cut banners with My Creative Time's Vintage Stitched Label Dies and stamped sentiments from MCT's So Grateful for You stamp set.  Perfect for the sweet little girl who will receive this!
